The uofa faculty of extension has japanese classes in the evenings. i'm not sure of your current japanese level, but when i did it many (many) years ago they used a textbook which was in complete romaji. there is a japanese cultural organization of some sort in edmonton, but i don't know if they offer lessons.. I have learned some japanese (would like to learn more so that i can carry on a conversation in japanese), i can read hiragana and katakana as well as a few kanji, can read more if i have the small furigana which are placed to the right of the kanji in vertical writing and above the kanji in horizontal writing.. I thought i should learn some basic japanese communication skills and some dos and the don’ts before we go. i have found an 8 weekend japanese beginner course online in may. throughout the course, i found our teacher, ms. tamaki ikeda (ikeda-san), who is very professional and the course materials are very useful and easy to understand..
